Phaco in Semi-Reclining Position in a Patient of Severe Kyphosis (Hunchback) Dr Suresh K Pandey.mpg
This patient of severe kyphosis (hunchback) was unable to get operated for cataract surgery as he was unable to lie flat on operation table. We performed topical phacoemulsification on this case in semi-reclining posture. The patient was asked to sit on operation rable and with the help of few pillows he was semi- reclinied backward (about 20-30 degrees). The operating surgeon (Dr Suresh K Pandey, Suvi Eye Institute, Kota, India) performed phacoemulsification in standing position. The surgery was extremely difficult and challenging due to unusual position for surgeon. but uneventful. The post op vision was 20/20 (unaided).
